I don't know if this is true of every democracy but the United States sure goes way off the rails a lot of the time. You'd like to think the courts are the last bastion of sanity in the face of evil government, but our courts have made some serious mistakes. Lest you think most of them are ancient history, the Roberts Court has fucked up pretty seriously.
