NEW COMIC TUESDAYS AND FRIDAYS AND WHEN THE MOOD STRIKES
If there's anything government is for, it's collective response to large-scale natural disasters. Idiots like Grover Norquist have been cynically exploiting understandable frustrations with government to fuel evil careers based on the eventual destruction of the United States government (except for the various teats on which they themselves suckle, of course) with the current apotheosis of democratic decay squatting in the White House as the direct result.
Said apotheosis has, along with the semi-ousted Steve Bannon, been neglecting whatever government positions he's not actively seeking to destroy; so a few posts have been filled by incompetents, idealogues, and outright demolition teams, while the remaining posts have simply been left vacant.
It's too early to judge the federal response to Hurricane Harvey in Texas and far too early even to know what's going to happen with Hurricane Irma in Florida, but given the sluggish and inadequate responses we've seen with Hurricane Katrina and more recently with Superstorm Sandy, I think we're going to be hurting a long time.
