We should never let the absurdity of the Trump regime obscure its success at its main goal, which is to destroy democracy and the rule of law and science in favor of making money and staying out of prison. To that end Trump remembered that he doesn't like the Smithsonian. I'm fairly certain no one in the regime gives a shit about history or the telling thereof; this is just another power play to show everyone who's boss. He needs loyalists everywhere because he's insecure, as all authoritarians are. Authority, after all, is a fiction, and it only works if people believe in it.
